Giants training camp '08

Yesterday, we left our house at 6:30 to head up to Albany.  We got to training camp around 9.  The morning practice lasted until about 10:30.  We got Kevin Boss' autograph#89 and Michael Matthews autograph#88.  Kevin Boss was terrific, he autographed all their balls and took a picture.  John held his helmut which he thought was the coolest thing.  After, we drove up to Saratoga Springs, they are big into horse racing there.  We were all starving and they had all these cute restaurants on the street with outdoor patios.  But what do the kids pick, the grossest restaurant on the block.  It was called the Circus Cafe.  I couldn't wait to get out of there.  The town however, is adorable.   It has great little shops and statues of horses all around.   We went back to training camp for the 3:20 practice.  It was HOT!  We sat in the bleachers on the field, probably 20 feet away from the players.  It was great.  When practice was ending we made our way to the fence where we could get autographs.  We got Shaun O'hara#60, David Diehl#66, Rich Seubert#69, Madison Hedgecock#39, Brandon London#19, Darcy Johnson(the guy giving Danny his glove) and Jack got Jerry Reece the GM.  Cute story with Brandon London-he played for UMass as a wide reciever.  Earlier that day, we went into the athletic bldg and there were 2 guys playing catch with a kid Ryan's age.  So Ryan asks them if he can play, one of the guys just kept throwing the ball to ryan and the other kid over and over, sometimes a little hard, but Ryan was having a great time.  Anyway, we saw the guys on the field and afterwards when Brandon came over to give autographs the guy who was throwing the ball said that's the kid I was throwing routes to, so Brandon says "he's the reason I'm here, he was my QB at Umass."  I thought that was pretty cool.  I wonder what he thinks seeing his buddy trying out for the Giants and he's not trying out for any team.  It must be kinda weird. We were a little bummed we didn't get Eli again, and Jack totally wanted David Tyree and  Osi Umenyiora.  They just kept walking by. Oh well.  Anyway, we got home around 9, it was a pretty long day, but totally worth it.  Now, they are off to the Met game.  I'll have those pictures tomorrow.  Have a great day!  

What we've been up to, and not....

Well today was somewhat productive.  I have been in a rut.  I feel like this is the most boring summer.  Why?  I am trying to get a job, so I am focusing most of my free time waiting for the phone to ring or checking the computer.  Which I know is so stupid, but I can't help it. It also didn't help that we just had some sort of a heatwave and then it rained a lot.  I feel bad for the kids, but for whatever reason they haven't complained.  I feel like I did this to them when we first moved here.The Scott Peterson trial was on during the summer so I sat home and watched court tv.  I tried to justify it by "pretending" to unpack.  Anyway, I have one more position that I am hopeful for.  But to be safe, I went to another district today.  Wow, what an awesome school.  It is in Easton.  It looks like a dairy farm, only brand new.  It's so cool.  I'm sure they have no openings right now, but I can't help but think how great it would be to work there.  Anyway, John had to go in for jury duty today and he got picked-AGAIN.   I can't believe it.  So, starting next Thursday, he's off to the lovely bridgeport courthouse for a criminal case.  When he got home, I had to get out.  I totally have cabin fever.  I went to all the sporting goods stores because we are going here on Saturday.  I am so excited!!  We had the best time last year.  I found a jersey for Ryan and 2 autograph footballs for Jack and Ry.  I got Danny a smaller one, but I am going to go back and get him a larger one like the other guys, this might be our last year, Uncle Whitey was supposed to retire last year.  I need to find a jersey for Danny too.  Well it's getting late, tomorrow is Jack's last day of football camp and then we're off to the beach for the rest of the day-YAY!  I hope the link above works.

2 minutes ago.  I really get frustrated with typepad.  It was so much easier before.  Now everything is an issue.  Anyway, did anyone watch the ESPY's last night?  It was my first time because I knew the Giants were on it.  Justin Timberlake was the mc, he actually was kinda funny but super annoying at the same time.  And if anyone did watch it, didn't Posh Spice look so mad the whole night?  Does that girl ever smile?  The Giants walked away with 3 awards.  We're going to training camp on Saturday.  I cannot wait.  Hope we get awesome pictures and autographs like last year.  Here are the remainder of my beach pictures. 

Last week,

we went to fairfield beach with Katie, Haley, Mike, Erin and Kerry.  It was sunny,hot and there were tons of jellyfish.  Did you know that when you get stung by one, you can spray vinegar and salt water on the area that hurts and it totally goes away.  I never knew that.  Needless to say, we didn't do much swimming.  However, Haley thought she was swimming all over the place, she had a great time.  We all did despite the nasty jellies.  Hopefully, we can do it again this week.  Today we just hung around the house....soooooo bored!  When John gets home I want to go swimming with the kids.  Just to get them outside.  Jack had football camp this morning and we just ended up hanging around.  Can't do this again.                                                                            

WCC

We went to Westchester Country Club yesterday.  I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked to, I was too busy talking to people I haven't seen in a million years.  It was great.  I don't even know who won the meet.  Anyway, here are some pictures.... Annie can you guess who the girl is in the baseball cap? (we didn't just swim against westchester, it was an invitational, so all the clubs were there)  Also, I found out sad news, Mr. Deagan died this past Sunday, and yesterday was his wake, which I just found out about so I couldn't go, so I feel bad. Anyway, I wish I took pictures down at the beach, it is just so beautiful.  Maybe next year when you come home for Cara's wedding, you can stay for another week and go to this.  Have a great day, Jack is at football camp, later we're off to Krista's pool.  See ya!

More 4th of July.......

Ok, if you're wondering why the huge slide show with not the greatest pictures, it's because......I didn't know I could do this.  I wanted to have this under my VERY OLD "Christmas" slide show.  But since I am not computer literate, this is what happens instead.  However, I'm glad for slide shows to come, they will be much better.  Anyway, have a great rest of your weekend!!!!

Happy 4th of July

Some more photos from the 4th.   It took forever to upload, so it's not in any particular order.  Jack started IMing and now my computer is sooooo slow.....  

Hope everyone had an AWESOME 4th of July!  Jack and Ryan had football camp until noon.  Jack's team won the "superbowl".  BTW football starts in 3 weeks but who's counting?  YAY!  Then we were off to the Shore Club for the rest of the day.  It was an iffy day, it looked like it was about to rain the entire time.   But we lucked out.  The club has a carnival every year which the kids love!  I do too, we end up seeing people we haven't seen all winter.  It's great.  This year was the yacht club's 150 yr anniversary (which I can't believe)  so 2 members rented a barge and set fireworks off that.  We were all so psyched because it was so close and they were beautiful!  Some gossip for Annie.....Glen Gilder joined the club, he has 3 boys under 4 and a half, he was asking for you. He works for the archdiocese renovating churches.  Darren has also joined Wykagil (OK how do you spell that?)  And yes, Gene and 13 of his friends sat on the 50 yrd line during the superbowl and went to the afterparty and was mad that he didn't have a lanyerd that said friends and family of the Mara's.  And that's about it.  Nothing else to report.  Oh, I'm going to Westchester on Tuesday for an invitational - unless it rains.  I'll take lots of pictures.

Jack Graduated Today

I can't believe my baby is going to middle school.  Today was a great day for Jack.  Graduation was at 9:15 this morning.  It lasted about an hour.  And to my surprise I DID NOT CRY!  It went too fast and they didn't sing any sad songs. Jack asked me twice not to cry, so I promised I would try not to.  The only time I felt like crying was afterwards when he and I were talking and he said "I don't know if I'm excited, I'm really going to miss Booth Hill."  I don't know why, but  I just think that was sad for a boy to say.  I guess I'd expect it from a girl. Jack is more sentimental than I thought.  Anyway, after there was a reception in the caf. and then it was off to drive to a million places after school.  He had 2 grad. parties to go to.  Ryan was invited to go swimming at a friends house and we were all invited to my friend Laura's house to go swimming. I'm exhausted and it's time to go pick up Jack, here's a few shots from today....... The first one is the first day of school back in August......
